La Gantoise tried for a Union player – All football

La Gantoise recently re-recruited Leandro Lopes. The Buffalos also explored the Lazare Amani trail.

The midfield is one of the major projects of Ghent this season. The departure of Julien De Sart left a void that management did not expect to have to fill so quickly, while Sven Kums (who will be 37 in February) sticks his tongue out a little more.

Recruited this summer, Atsuki Ito and Mathias Delorge are giving satisfaction for the moment. But for a club also faced with the heaviness of the European calendar, this remains too little.

Need for percussion at the heart of the game

This is why the management has made an additional midfielder their priority. The Buffalos played on anticipation by recruiting Leandro Lopes (free since the end of his contract at Cercle) before the start of the winter transfer window.

But the Portuguese was not the only one on the Ghent shortlist. Het Laatste Nieuws reports that Ghent also tried to Lazarus Amaniwhich presents a relatively similar profile.

Lazare was initially on the sidelines at Union this season, before making five starts in a row in November, then returning to the bench. The Leandro Lopes option, however, had the advantage of being less expensive.
