A copy and paste from 2024?
A season which could start as early as February 17 for Wout van Aert. According to HLNthe Belgian should be at the start of the Clasica Jaen, a race using gravel paths, to kick off his season. He could then continue with the Tour of the Algarve from February 19 to 23. A program similar to last year when he also made his first laps in Spain and Portugal.
Van Aert will then head to Belgium where he will take part in the Circuit Het Nieuwsblad but should skip Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne the next day. As in 2024, the Visma runner | Lease a Bike should also skip the Strade Bianche and Milan-Sanremo and should not participate in Paris-Nice or Tirreno-Adriatico.

After the opening event in Belgium, van Aert will undoubtedly complete a course in the sun to refine his form in view of his first major objectives of the season. He should therefore compete successively in the GP E3 and Across Flanders (where he seriously fell in 2024) before participating in the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. He could then continue until the Amstel Gold Race the following week.
A Giro-Tour double
After the classics, van Aert will take a break and prepare for the rest of the season. According to HLNthe three-time cyclo-cross world champion should (finally) be at the start of the Giro, he who had to withdraw last year and should continue with the Tour de France in July.
A Grande Boucle whose route of the first week gives ideas to the Belgian: “I was pleasantly surprised that there were so many transition and puncher stages on the Tour. There will be a lot of bumps even in the first week. It reminds me a lot of the first week of the 2022 Tour.”he told Sporza last week.
