Formula 1 | Fine for Mercedes F1, reprimand for Haas, summons for Tsunoda

The FIA has already ruled on a few points in front of the stewards after some issues in qualifying.

At Mercedes F1, Lewis Hamilton left his garage taking his rear jack and the exhaust gas extraction pipe. Fortunately the two elements did not go into the fast lane of the pitlane but the FIA decided to impose a fine of 5,000 euros on Mercedes F1 for this unsafe exit.

At Haas F1, Nico Hulkenberg was under investigation for two forced insertions into the single-seater queues in Q1 and Q2. The Haas F1 team was reprimanded for this, not the driver.

As for Max Verstappen, he was under possible investigation for driving too slowly in the pit lane but the FIA chose not to open a case on the matter.

Note that Yuki Tsunoda finds himself under investigation by the commissioners for having insulted an opponent, calling him “retarded”. Guanyu Zhou had overtaken the Japanese in the pit lane.

This is contrary to the international sporting code, article 12.2.1.f of the FIA. He will have to explain himself to the commissioners in the coming minutes.
