On the eve of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Florence, Italy, Paul Lapeira, French champion last week in Saint-Martin-de-Landelles in Manche, received his new Van Rysel RCR Pro in the colours of his tricolour jersey.

25. That’s the number of victories that Vincent Lavenu’s team has collected in 2024, at the time of writing. The last one was a week ago, in the Channel, when Paul Lapeira donned the French champion’s jersey. The latter has just, as tradition dictates, discovered his bike in the colours of his tricolour jersey.

Since 2024, the French team has been evolving with the Van Rysel RCR Pro bikes (and XCR for the chrono). We tested them last year. Two levels of frames are commercially available. The RCR and the RCR Pro (used by Decathlon runners), with a stiffer layup. Thanks to the high-end carbon fiber, Van Rysel has managed to lower the weight of the Pro frame alone to 790 g, painted, in size M. The fork remains at 380 g.

Between customization and prototype

The northern firm worked with Swiss Side for the running gear. 50 mm here, shod with Continental GP 500 S TR tires in 28 mm. But at the front, the riders in the blue jersey ride with a prototype from the German firm.

Shimano is present for the Dura Ace transmission, Deda for the cockpit and fi’zi:k for the seat. But Paul Lapeira also rides with CarbonTi chainrings, like Tadej Pogačar and the UAE team.
