MotoGP Netherlands Assen J1, Alex Marquez (Ducati/3) in front of his brother: “They will all go faster, you have to be careful”

Very discreet since the start of the season, Alex Marquez woke up on this first day at Assen. Since third place in the Practice, he is three places ahead of his brother, even if the gaps remain tight. It’s better, because it must be recognized that he has been evolving in the shadow of the latter since the Qatar Grand Prix. On a tortuous Desmosedici GP23, he struggles and finally seems rewarded. Knowing perfectly the strengths of his opponents, he knows that he still has work to do and that nothing is over.

At least the qualification for Q2 is confirmed. Here is the real success of Alex Marquez, who can boast, for once, of relegating his brother in difficulty on the Dutch track.
« We immediately felt good on the Ducati and we worked just as well. The goal was Q2 and getting there with the third best time overall is certainly a big motivation. » he declared yesterday evening, at the end of the crucial session.

The pace, on the other hand, was not so conclusive and requires some adjustments. « We still have something to sort out in terms of rhythm and we have some solutions to try with the front tire, but otherwise we are satisfied” added the double world champion.

Just like Marc, his box neighbour, he knows perfectly well that the others can drive faster. He too is convinced of Bagnaia’s lead over the rest of the grid.
« Everyone will go faster, so we can’t relax. Right now, Bagnaia is at least two steps ahead of all of us. We will try to do even better. » he concluded.
