Transfer window: PSG’s interest in Huijsen confirmed, his price higher than expected

Revealed Thursday by L’Equipe, PSG’s interest in promising Juventus central defender Dean Huijsen (19 years old) is confirmed this Friday in Italy. But competition is fierce in this area and the player’s price could be more expensive than expected.

Eager to recruit Leny Yoro this summer, PSG is studying other avenues in case the young central defender from Lille escapes and signs for example with Real Madrid, the big favorite in this file. Several names have been circulating in the press in recent days, from Lutsharel Geertruida (23 years old, Feyenoord) to Edmond Tapping (25 years old, Bayer Leverkusen) via Dean Huijsen (19 ans, Juventus).

Born in Amsterdam, but a Spanish U21 international, Dean Huijsen (1m97, ambidextrous) is coming off an interesting six-month loan at AS Roma, but belongs to Juventus Turin, where his contract runs until 2028. Even before L’Equipe revealed PSG’s interest in him, the Italian press announced in recent days that the Bianconeri intended to sell him to finance their transfer window.

Juve would like €30m for Huijsen…

This Friday, La Gazzetta dello Sport confirmed that this is still Juventus’ plan and specified that the latter hopes to recover €30 million in the event of a transfer, which is much more than the €20 million mentioned by L’Equipe on Thursday. In addition to PSG, the Italian media (which cited Stuttgart, Leverkusen and Bayern Munich the day before yesterday) announced that Borussia Dortmund is thinking of Dean Huijsen to replace Mats Hummels. Newcastle and Stuttgart are also mentioned by the transalpine newspaper.

… seduced by Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen

Turin sports daily, Tuttosport also addresses this issue this Friday and confirms Parisian interest in Huijsen, who would target a new club playing in Europe and if possible the Champions League (which will not be the case for Newcastle for example). This source also confirms the price requested by Juventus (€30 million), as well as the interest of Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, a club which could lose Jonathan Tah (courted by Bayern Munich). According to Tuttosport, Huijsen and his agent-dad would see themselves joining Xabi Alonso, renowned for developing young talents.

Campos would have contacted Huijsen’s entourage

The journalist Alfredo Pedulla, not necessarily the most renowned in Italy, also wrote his little article on the future of Huijsen in recent hours and mentions an initial contact between Luis Campos and the player’s entourage. PSG have not yet contacted Juventus at this stage and according to this source, Dortmund, Leverkusen, but also Atalanta Bergamo are interested. Pedulla also suggests the possibility that Juve will use Huijsen to convince the Dea to give up their Dutch attacking midfielder Teun Koopmeiners.
