Ismaël Koné will join OM and is Marseille’s first summer recruit

Ismaël Koné is the first summer recruit for Olympique de Marseille. Negotiations with Watford are complete. The midfielder signs up for five years.

Pablo Longoria and Mehdi Benatia close their first file of the summer! Olympique de Marseille has made official the arrival of Ismaël Koné, from Watford. The Canadian midfielder is committed for the next five seasons.

The transfer fee has not been disclosed but is said to be around 12 million euros. The midfielder arrives from Watford. Ismaël Koné will undergo his medical examination at the end of the Copa América, which he is currently playing with Canada. A historic first participation for his country.

This signing marks a boost at Olympique de Marseille. The Marseille leaders wanted to quickly bring recruits to Roberto de Zerbi, new coach of the Olympians. Brest defender Lilian Brassier could soon follow.

In the meantime, Ismaël Koné is focusing on the Copa América. Canada is second in its group, behind Argentina in its group.
