I can also tell you that tennis without pain is the best tennis” first shared Djokovicon the court, after his victory against Medvedev. “It was a good test against one of the best players in the world, after doing a few training sets over the last few days. I wanted to come here to test my knee, see how I feel. The test was a success, so I I’m very happy.”
The Serb also spoke about his truncated preparation with a knee operation which seemed to keep him away from participating in Wimbledon. “The last three weeks have been intense after the operation. I always wanted to give myself a chance to come to London. Without the surgeon here, none of this would have been possible. The first person I spoke to was Taylor Fritz, when I heard he had a similar injury (between Roland Garros and Wimbledon 2021). He shared his experience with me and was very nice. I asked a lot of athletes: Stan Wawrinka, Lindsey Vonn, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, everyone!”
