Paul Nardi was not extended by La Gantoise. He is therefore free, and will have the choice in the Jupiler Pro League.
It was a hard blow for Paul Nardi that Ghent does not offer him a new contract. The 30-year-old goalkeeper suffered a very serious injury last season and was kept off the field for months.
“My agent has had some contact with Michel Louwagie but until now the club has not yet communicated a final decision to me. I am waiting. They have not yet told me: ‘Paul, thank you for everything , goodbye”, assured Nardi last May.
The decision has now been made and the Frenchman is not extended. Nardi wants to stay in Belgium and has options. Thus, KV Kortrijk is one of the interested clubs. The Flandriens are interested in the services of an experienced goalkeeper who has already proven himself, in particular, at Cercle.
There are other options and Nardi will consider them all. We notably cited Sporting Charleroi, but the Zèbres have formalized the arrival of Théo Defourny, who should become number 1 to replace Hervé Koffi who left for RC Lens.
On the Ghent side, does this mean that Davy Roef will finally be the undisputed number 1? That remains to be seen. The Buffalos are still looking for a new goaltender to provide competition.
