Rabat – The public of the OLM Souissi was treated, Thursday evening in Rabat, to a colorful concert delivered by the British rapper Central Cee, aka “Cench”, on the occasion of the 19th edition of the Mawazine Festival. Rhythms of the world.

Dressed in a magnificent Moroccan jellaba, the fast-rising star in the competitive world of urban music gave the audience an unforgettable evening, where his sharp lyrics and magnetic style ignited the stage.

Having already appeared in Moroccan jabadour to announce his concert at Mawazine, Central Cee, one of the icons of the British rap game and one of the experts of UK Drill, whose rules he has never stopped changing, set the stage on fire by performing his famous songs, rich in (very) thorny punchlines.

For its first concert in Morocco, Central Cee was in perfect symbiosis with the audience of OLM Souissi, relying on its unique flow as well as melodic and avant-garde rhythms, to gently convey powerful messages. , based on lyrical lyrics with well-chosen rhymes.

Throughout his performance, the audience was captivated by the artistic intelligence of “Cench”, one of the most striking examples of which was the interpretation of his title “Let go”, where he revisits the famous Passenger song “Let her go”, to bring his personal touch, without denaturalizing the initial masterpiece.

The singer of “Loading”, “I Will” and “Entrapreneur” continued to promote Moroccan culture while sipping his glass of mint tea, before releasing one of his most famous songs, “ Commitment Issues”, in front of packed spectators.

Endowed with great sensitivity, a power of introspection and a pronounced authenticity, Central Cee delivered a remarkable performance, further accentuated by his admiration for Morocco, arousing the general enthusiasm of the Festival spectators.

Central Cee, real name Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, is a talented singer-songwriter and rapper from the UK who has become the new voice of the London rap scene. Growing up in the small West London area, he was influenced by culture and music thanks to his father who was a fan of dancehall, hip-hop and reggae music and the Nothing Hill Carnival.

The first part of the evening was hosted by the Anglo-Mancunian artist IAMDDB, known for her music fusing jazz, hip-hop, trap and R&B. She has collaborated with artists such as Masego & Diplo and toured with legends such as Lauryn Hill, Bryson Tiller & Jhene Aiko.

Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the 19th edition of the Mawazine-Rythmes du Monde Festival (June 21-29) is organized by the Maroc Cultures Association, under the sign of “diversity and celebration” . This artistic event is considered among the largest cultural events in the world, offering a rich program that mixes the biggest stars of the world and Arab repertoire, making the cities of Rabat and Salé the scene of exceptional encounters between the public and artists from fame.
