Cycling. Road – Belgium – Arnaud De Lie Champion of Belgium… a mammoth sprint

A few hours after the demonstration of Lotte Kopecky on these Belgian Championships, it was up to the men to express themselves on the course around Zottegem. Despite a very lively race, the victory was decided in a sprint and it was Arnaud De Lie who was the fastest. The Bull of Lescheret came to reward the exceptional work of its team Lotto Dstny and won a Belgian Champion title for the first time, at the age of 22. This is the first success of the Lotto Dstny on this race since 2014 and the coronation of Jens Debusschere. De Lie is also the first rider from the province of Luxembourg to win this major title.

In France… it was Paul Lapeira who won the title!

Philipsen, Van Aert, Merlier… battus

In a suspenseful finale marked by numerous attacks, we witnessed a royal sprint in the streets of Zottegem. But the strongest was good Arnaud De Lie. As he launched the sprint away from the finish, with Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) dans la roue, the Bull of Lescheret was at no time worried by the green jersey of the last Tour de Francewho didn’t even manage to get back to the height of his pedal board. The Philips still managed to get 2nd place. Behind, we find Jordi Meeus (3e, BORA-hansgrohe), Thibau Nys (4e, Lidl-Trek), Wout Van Aert (5e, Visma | Lease a Bike) et Tim Merlier (6e, Soudal Quick-Step).
