Djibril Diaw will not pass a 3e season in Mayenne. “He will no longer be in the squad”revealed Monday Laurent Lairy, the president of Stade Lavallois.

Diaw’s situation was not simple. The Senegalese, 29, was linked with a Ukrainian club, but the international situation made the contract void. He was thus able to be loaned to Laval during the 2022-2023 financial year, then again this season.

A pillar of the defense this season

In progress, Diaw had established himself in the three-way central defense. “We have a lot of players who had their best season, like Djibril”had indicated at the time of the assessment Olivier Frapolli.

The Mayenne coach had started him 32 times in the league. He would have liked to see him continue the tango adventure, but the negotiations were unsuccessful. Diaw will continue his journey elsewhere, after having scored six goals in two seasons, including that of maintenance, in Amiens, on June 2, 2023.

A sector to rebuild

Laval will therefore have to strengthen its central defense, already without Yasser Baldé and Marvin Baudry, to whom the club had not offered a new lease. Baudry, moreover, should very soon join the National.

Laval should therefore announce this Tuesday, June 25, the signing of a defender. It will be neither Kevin Mouanga, who leaves Annecy for Lausanne, nor Till Cissokho, relegated with Quevilly-Rouen and who is exploring other avenues, nor Bradley Danger, who announced his departure from Rodez.
