While the Montreal Canadiens goalies have been experiencing some difficulties since the start of the season, Jakub Dobes maintained his perfect record in the American Hockey League (AHL) on Wednesday evening.
The young Czech netminder stopped 27 pucks in a 3-2 victory for the Rocket against the Utica Comets at Place Bell, so that he remains undefeated in four starts this season in the AHL.
Riley Kidney, with his first goal of the season, and Jared Davidson shook things up for the Rocket. Kidney’s goal was a thing of beauty: the young Nova Scotia striker made a superb individual effort to beat defender Nick DeSimone, then goalkeeper Nico Daws.
Florian Xhekaj completed the score with an empty net.
Owen Beck also had a strong game, collecting two assists.
The Rocket, one of the youngest teams in the AHL, is off to a great start. With a fifth consecutive victory, Pascal Vincent’s squad brings its record to 6-1-0.
She will be back in action next Friday against the Providence Bruins.
