After the officialization of the passage of the Tour de France in Mayenne with the arrival of the 8th stage judged in Laval on Saturday July 12, France Bleu Mayenne reveals which route the peloton should take in the Laval final.
The runners will arrive in Laval via the de L’Huisserie road (D1). At a crossroads in the Avesnières district, they will turn right then, once they have crossed the bridge, turn left onto the Quai Paul Boudet. Then, there will be rue de la cale, boulevard Félix Grat, rue de Paris, rue de la Paix. There, the peloton will turn right to follow the Mayenne (quai Beatrix de Gavres, quai de Bootz, rue de la Filature). Once arrived on the Laval ring road, the large Tour caravan will take the D900 to the Parc Cérès roundabout, go around it and go back down towards the Pritz bridge. Launching at full speed, the peloton will begin the climb of Pritz on the right side of the 2×2 lane (boulevard Pierre Elain) and the finish line will be drawn around a hundred meters from the attribution roundabout. It will be a finale for strong sprinters because it will take power to overcome this climb of around 700 meters at an average of 4%.
A route which must still be validated by the municipality of Laval as well as by the authorities. It will not be until next spring that the organizers will present the final route of this 8th stage contested over 174 km between Saint-Méen-le-Grand and Laval.
