‘Captain Marvel’ Star Jude Law Reflects on His MCU Role

“Captain Marvel” star Jude Law has reflected on his brief stint in the MCU, regretting not giving it all the depth he wanted.

Like several Marvel Cinematic Universe actors, including Anthony Hopkins and Christian Bale, Jude Law has expressed frustration with his role in “Captain Marvel.”

“It was a very good experience. I wish I could have had a little more fun with this role. I wanted him to be more sneaky. I wanted to lean more into humor,” he told Variety, adding that “these costumes are difficult to wear because they are thick rubber.”

“You go to stunt camp for a few months, where you do all these fight rehearsals and learn how to do all these things. And then you put the costume on and you’re like, ‘Oh! I can’t touch my toes! How am I going to do all this with this thing?’, but you manage,” he continued.

No return to Marvel

Jude Law, who played Starforce leader Yon-Rogg in “Captain Marvel” (2019), confirmed that his character will probably not return in the MCU. “I don’t think they could have gotten much more out of Yon-Rogg. For me, it was the pinnacle of Marvel,” the actor said.

Hopkins, for his part, disdained his role as Odin in the “Thor” franchise, telling the New York Times: “They put armor on me, they put a beard on me. I sat on the throne, screamed a little. If you’re sitting in front of a green screen, there’s no point playing that role.”

As for Christian Bale, he also expressed his frustration, saying: “I mean, the very definition of that term is monotony. You have good people. You have other actors who have a lot more experience than me. Can you tell the difference between one day and the next? No. Absolutely not. You have no idea what to do. I couldn’t even tell the difference between one step and the next.

Jude Law will soon be starring in the television series “Skeleton Crew”, from the Star Wars universe.
