Three months before the Paris Olympic Games, Loana Lecomte won her fourth title as French cross-country mountain bike champion. The Haut-Savoyarde largely imposed itself on the Levens field in the Alpes-Maritimes.

She was the big favorite at the start. And on arrival, the performance of the Annécienne did not disprove the predictions. This Sunday, May 5, the best French mountain bikers met in Levens in the Alpes-Maritimes.

In the absence of her Marnese rival Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, Loana Lecomte had free rein to dominate the race. On very muddy terrain, the Haut-Savoyarde flew through the proceedings. The mountain biker from Annecy left her opponents no chance. She won with more than two minutes ahead of her first competitors.

I am very happy to have retained my title. I hope to be able to honor this beautiful French champion jersey. I know I still have work to do, but I’m confident“, commented the 2023 world vice-champion to AFP.

The Frenchwoman thus retained her French champion jersey and won her fourth title. After 2021, 2022 and 2023, Loana Lecomte can add the 2024 line to her list. A relief for the runner after a difficult start to the World Cup season. During the last stage in Araxa in Brazil, the Annécienne had retired on the short track after a fall on the third lap.

I was never worried, but winning gives you confidence. I was able to make up for the little downside I had in Brazil. I’m back on the right track. Now, I will continue the preparation and keep fresh to get in my best shape in Paris“, she added.

Three months before the Paris Olympic Games, the Haut-Savoyarde is reassured and intends to confirm her current form from the next World Cup stage in Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic, scheduled for May 24 to 26.
