The Women’s Professional Football League officially presented, D1 Arkema changes name

The new Women’s Professional Football League was presented this Monday in Paris, in the presence of its president Jean-Michel Aulas and Philippe Diallo, the head of the French Football Federation. The opportunity to announce that D1 Arkema will soon be called the Arkema Premier League.

A historic spring for French footballers. The Women’s Professional Football League (LFFP) was officially presented this Monday during a ceremony organized in Paris. Jean-Michel Aulas, newly elected president of this new body (which will be launched on July 1), and Philippe Diallo, head of the French Football Federation, were present at the Dauphine Pavilion to detail this ambitious project, on the sidelines of the French women’s football trophy ceremony.

The opportunity to announce a change of name for the first division championship, which will increase from twelve to fourteen clubs from the 2026-2027 season. The D1 Arkema will now be called the Arkema Premier League. A name inspired by the Women’s Super League launched a few years ago with success in England. In the same spirit, the women’s D2 becomes the Second League.

“Make women’s football attractive”

“There is great pride. There is also a lot of emotion because all this is done so that the practice of women’s football develops at the highest level,” said Jean-Michel Aulas. “That we not only have players who are high quality players, which was already the case, but that they are also recognized in a championship which is going to be one of the very best in Europe. “

An ambition shared by Amandine Miquel, the Reims coach: “We have to make women’s football attractive above all. For me, the big priority is that, making sure that people get around, turn on their TV and put on the right chain for us and that we can begin to generate a market around this discipline which for me, on a footballing, tactical, technical and athletic level is different from men’s football but has nothing to envy of it.
