Did the fact that Ryan Johansen was spotted dancing at his wedding help convince the Philadelphia Flyers that the forward wasn’t being completely honest about his health?

“There are a few people who have suggested to me that it could have a link with the timing of the announcement of the contract termination, which occurred just after his marriage,” confided the renowned Elliotte Friedman in the last episode of his podcast 32 Thoughts.

However, another source of the journalist finds that such reasoning is lame.

“This person pointed out to me that there is a world of difference between facing Anze Kopitar and dancing at a wedding,” Friedman said. “She didn’t like that conclusion being drawn.”

Johansen and the Players’ Association officially filed a grievance against the Flyers on Thursday to challenge the decision to sever the contractual relationship.

The Flyers accuse Johansen of a contract violation, while the player’s clan maintains that Johansen suffers from an injury that prevents him from playing hockey.

Johansen did not play a game with the Flyers last season. However, before being traded to the Pennsylvania team on March 6, the veteran had taken part in all of the Colorado Avalanche’s practices and matches.

“The resolution of this conflict will rest, I believe, on the testimony of the doctors who examined Johansen,” Friedman said. I assume that the two clans will try to come to an agreement before going before an arbitrator.
