A great player has decided to hang up his boots. This Wednesday, September 25, 2024, Raphaël Varaneformer RC and legend of the French team football, has retired after 14 years as a professional. He won a large number of trophies throughout his career. Here is his exceptional record.

Four Champions Leagues under the clock: an achievement!

Raphaël Varane’s fabulous career began in Pas-de-Calais, at RC Lens. Trained at Gaillette, the young central defender quickly established himself in the starting 11 during the 2010-2011 season. Unfortunately, the Artesian club will go down to Ligue 2 and Varane will fly to the Real Madrid.

This is where the destiny of the footballer born in will take another turn. Notably alongside Sergio Ramos, Raphaël Varane will win three Spanish championships, one cup and two Spanish Super Cups, four Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups and four Club World Cups!

After 10 seasons in Madrid, the former Lensois joined Manchester United in 2021. He won two new trophies: the FA Cup and the English League Cup. But his most beautiful trophy is the one raised in 2018 in Russia during the World Cup.

During the tournament, Raphaël Varane was a real leader and even scored a goal in the quarter-final against Uruguay. He retired four years later after the World Cup in Qatar. Meanwhile, in 2021, he will win the League of Nations with the Blues.

His career therefore ended this Wednesday when he had started a new adventure in Italy, in Como, just promoted to Serie A. The too recurrent physical problems did not allow Varane to prolong his life as a professional footballer in over 31 years old.
