After the team bronze medal, the junior men were back in the arena for the apparatus finals of the 2024 European Championship.
Anthony Mansard triple medalist on apparatus
Qualified for 5 of the 6 apparatus finals, Anthony Mansard, at only 17 years old, won 3 medals including the European title in the fixed event. He started his day perfectly in the floor final. With the score of 13.500 he earned his first silver medal on this apparatus. After a 4th place on the rings and a 5th place on the vault, the Frenchman continues his quest on the parallels and the fixed line. As he continues through the finals, the Antibois, originally from Reunion Island, manages to put his moves into these last two finals. He thus won two new medals, silver in the parallels, with two of his competitors and above all the European junior title in the fixed. “Out of 5 finals, I won 3 medals. It’s satisfying because two years ago, I already made these 3 finals, but I only had one medal on floor, the same as this year. 4th and 5th place on the parallels and the fixed had taken a bit of a nosedive, so it’s revenge. And this title on the landline, I went to get it to the ground. I saw the other congruents who were coming out with beautiful movements so each time I passed I was hot and finally it happened. I am very happy.” explains Anthony.
Alan Moullec in bronze on the ground
Also qualified in the junior ground final alongside Anthony Mansard, Alan Moullec from the Ile de France pole, originally from Brittany, was also able to offer a good quality of work. He thus offers himself a second European bronze medal after the team medal. “It was my first experience on this scale. This final was just a bonus after the team medal so it’s just happiness. I went for the receptions and it paid off. And then sharing the podium with Anthony is really nice. » explains Alan.
Finally, Karim Mangala-Bima, qualified on vault, finished 6th in his first European final. “I changed my first jump, that was the goal in the final. I could have done better, but it was better than this week so I’m happy. » Nathan Camilleri also finished 6th in the parallels. “It was less stressful than I imagined thanks to the experience of Stuttgart and the other finals before. It was cool. I made some small mistakes, but I am very happy with these European Championships. »
On floor and rings, the title goes to the Italian, Tommaso Brugnami, on pommel to the Armenian Hamlet Manukyan, on vault to the British Sol Scott and in parallel also to the British, Uzair Chowdhury.
