Romelu Lukaku did not help Napoli to get the three points on the pitch of Juventus. The Belgian had a fiery start for the Partenopei but knows the backlash.

Juventus and Naples shared the stakes (0-0) this Saturday and Romelu Lukaku was not the most inspired against the Old Lady. After scoring two goals and providing two assists in two games, the Belgian experienced his first really complicated match since his arrival in Naples.

Lukaku was also taken off in the 70th minute by Antonio Conte, who highlighted his team’s offensive difficulties. “We could have made better use of the opportunities we created,” regretted the Neapolitan coach.

Having missed all of the summer training waiting for his transfer, Romelu Lukaku now has some physical catching up to do and his brilliant debut with Napoli should not make us forget that. Conte knows that his striker is not yet fit.

“Romelu is not yet in the form I expect from him. But of course, he arrived among the last,” concluded Antonio Conte.

Romelu Lukaku notably skipped the international break in September to be able to work on his return. However, he is expected to rejoin Domenico Tedesco’s national team in October… and therefore return to Rome, where he played last season, to face Italy.
