NHL: Sam Bennett in pain; Maxime Comtois recalled

The Florida Panthers will monitor the health of forward Sam Bennett following Game 2 of the series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Bennett was hit on the left hand by a powerful slap shot from teammate Brandon Montour in the second period. He left angrily for the locker room and did not return to the game afterward.

Bennett scored a goal and had an assist before his departure in the second game. Carter Verhaeghe gave the Panthers the victory in overtime and this 3 to 2 victory allows them to lead the series 2 to 0.

The third game of the series will take place on Thursday.

Reminder for Comtois

The Carolina Hurricanes recalled three players in the evening, including Quebecer Maxime Comtois. He heads to Raleigh with defender Dylan Coghlan and goalkeeper Antti Raanta.

Comtois had an assist in his debut with the Canes on April 16 for the last game of the season.

The Canes lead their first round series ahead of the New York Islanders 2 to 0. Game 3 will be held on Thursday.
