They would be very wrong to deprive themselves of it. Paramount is expected to launch Sonic 4 after the good box office performance of the third part, which has already grossed $336 million worldwide. According to Indiewire, the goal is for the fourth installment to arrive in theaters in spring 2027, but this has not yet been confirmed.

The news also comes at a time when the saga is celebrating, as it recently became the latest film franchise to join the billion dollar club. Of course, this figure is more impressive when it is achieved by a single film, and in this case it took three, but it is still enormous.
Sonic 3 could surpass the first two films
Sonic, the movie ended its theatrical run with revenues of 319.7 million, an amount which rose to 405.4 million in the case of Sonic 2, the movie. The big question now is whether the third installment will beat its predecessors.

In the United States, he's close to achieving this, but worldwide, he still has a long way to go. However, the film will be released in China on January 10, where it is expected to gross at least a handful of additional millions, allowing Sonic 3, the movie to get closer to the title of most lucrative film in the series.

For the moment, no one has confirmed the return of the blue hedgehog for Sonic 4, the moviebut Paramount has so far opted for almost total continuity of the saga. It would therefore be surprising if Jeff Fowler did not return behind the camera or if Josh Miller and Pat Casey were not part of the writing team. As for the casting, Jim Carrey has expressed his desire to return, let's hope that comes to fruition.
