Since October, Oumar Solet has been a Udinese player. The 24-year-old defender, coveted by many teams in Europe, had chosen to join Udine freely after terminating his contract with RB Salzburg. A choice which was enough to raise questions as the Serie A team stagnates in the soft underbelly on the other side of the Alps as evidenced by their ninth place in the Serie A standings. Having still not played a single match in Italy, Oumar Solet returned to his choice at the microphone of Sky Italia :

«It's true, when I was in Salzburg, various Italian clubs were interested in me. Now I can finally play in an important championship and with a team that believes a lot in me: when Udinese presented the project to me, they immediately convinced me. I got on the plane and went to sign. (…) I had a lot of fun in Salzburg. We have won the championship three times and each Champions League match teaches you something new: it's a privilege and a great emotion. But playing only six big matches a year was no longer enough for me: now, I feel the need to challenge the best players every week and that's why I chose Serie A.»
