According to the autopsy carried out on December 31 by the Saint-Etienne forensic institute, the infant who was presumed to be female is in reality male. In addition, the examinations carried out established that “the body had been hidden in the bag and submerged” but could not determine the circumstances of his death.
The infant was “compatible with full-term birth.”
If forensic examinations had been ordered to determine whether the infant was born alive, the Roanne prosecutor's office decided to reclassify the investigation as murder of a minor under 15 years old.
It will be carried out by the interdepartmental direction of the Loire national police (DIPN 42), the prosecutor's press release tells us.
The Roanne public prosecutor's office also made a call for witnesses to advance the investigation.
