This is news that will certainly not delight Real Madrid fans. According to the Madrid newspaper Marca, the leaders of the Spanish club are working on the sly to change the name of the team's stadium for the 15 Champions League. The Santiago Bernabéu will become the Bernabéu.
If the club's work towards this transition remains very discreet, certain clues are already perceptible. The stadium's official website is now called Bernabéu like the official social media profile. The stadium's merchandising and marketing now only displays the former Real Madrid player's last name.
A change subject to a vote
At the moment, nothing is official yet. This change of name will have to be submitted to the vote of the Assembly of Members which brings together certain members of the Merengue club. This meeting could be a brake on the transition towards which Real Madrid wants to go regarding its legendary enclosure.
