A tempting lead ends in attack for Paris Saint-Germain.
At the start of the 2024-2025 season, Paris Saint-Germain faces a problem of offensive realism. If the French champion occupies first place in Ligue 1, his journey in the Champions League is proving more difficult. His record – a narrow victory against Girona (1-0), defeats against Arsenal (2-0) and Atlético Madrid (2-1), as well as a draw against PSV Eindhoven (1-1) – highlights a lack of precision in the last gesture, particularly in the absence of a real scorer up front.
Indeed, since the start of the season, the unavailability of Gonçalo Ramos, injured in the ankle, has pushed coach Luis Enrique to improvise. The latter, however, prefers to align sometimes Kang-in Lee, sometimes Marco Asensio in false nine, rather than turning to Randal Kolo Muani.
PSG sees a dream slip away
Furthermore, if rumors of PSG's interest in Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting) with a view to the winter transfer window multiply, another avenue considered last summer by the Parisian sports advisor, Luis Campos, that of Victor Osimhen, could well close. The Nigerian striker, currently on loan to Galatasaray from Naples and contractually linked to the Italian club until June 2026, said he was not considering a departure during the next transfer window.
“I will not leave in January, I will stay at Galatasaray until the end of the season. I don't know what Galatasaray and Napoli are talking about afterwards, but if they come to see me, we'll talk about it. Galatasaray is a good club that I really like. I am very happy at Galatasaray”he declared after his decisive double against Tottenham (3-2) Friday in the Europa League.
Note that the 2024 African vice-champion has a release clause set at 75 million euros, however making a transfer possible from January if an offer comes from one of the ten selected clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool , Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG, had just been formulated.
