Météo-France has placed seven departments in the north-eastern quarter of the country on orange alert this Wednesday evening for the risk of flooding and snow-ice.

The Nord and Pas-de-Calais are on orange alert for the risk of snow and ice while Calvados, Eure, Seine-Maritime, Oise and Ille-et-Vilaine are on alert for risk of flooding.
Up to 20 centimeters of snow in Pas-de-Calais
Météo-France notes that “snowfall is temporarily weakening”.
“The snow remains on the ground, there is generally between 2 and 5cm in the departments on orange alert. Be careful of roads that may become icy,” warns the meteorological institute.
“Over the entire episode, the expected snow depths are of the order of 3 to 7 cm locally 10 cm, very occasionally up to 15 to 20 cm are possible on the relief of Boulonnais”, says Météo-France in its Wednesday evening bulletin.
In the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, the soils have whitened, particularly in Lille where the city station recorded two centimeters of snow. As a result, the school transport has been suspended in Hauts-de-France for the day.
Concerning the risk of flooding, Vigicrues has placed the middle sector of Vilaine, Orne, Dives, Touques and Epte on orange alert. Orne was already concerned by vigilance earlier in the day
This vigilance is valid from this Wednesday, January 8 at 10 p.m. and until this Thursday.
