A 22-year-old dock worker and a 41-year-old truck driver were indicted on Friday January 3, after the discovery on December 30 of more than two tons of cocaine hidden in a container at the port of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), a announced the Paris prosecutor's office.
The Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, welcomed this seizure carried out by the research section of the Rouen gendarmerie and Ofast (anti-narcotics office), according to him, a sign that “the war against drug trafficking is intensifying day by day”.
Their investigations allowed “to highlight the particular operating method used in the present case, namely the deposit of a 'clone container' in the unloading zone. This is a container with identical marking to a container already referenced in the cargo of a ship to be discharged”, explains the press release from the Paris prosecutor's office. “The investigations are now continuing under the direction of the investigating judges, with the objectives of establishing the circumstances of the commission of the facts and identifying all the co-perpetrators and accomplices,” it is specified.
