The cinemas of Creuse attracted more than 155,000 spectators in 2024. Reflecting a renewed interest in cinema on the big screen on the part of the French. With more than 181 million admissions last year, cinema attendance in France is up, by almost a million, and it’s a global exception! Another particularity, Almost half of the films seen were French.
French films were a hit in Creuse
“A little thing in addition”, “The Count of Monte Cristo” and “L’amour ouf” were a hit, a trend which is reflected in our Creuse cinemas. At the Sénéchal in Guéret, the largest cinema in the department with its five screens and 692 seats, Artus’ film was seen by 8,600 people. “It’s twice as much as”Super mario Bros” our biggest success of 2023″, notes Guillaume Tixier, the director of Sénéchal. The Guéret cinema, which screened more than 400 films last year, recorded nearly 2,000 additional entries in 2024 compared to 2023, with a total of 94,792 places sold. “We are not quite at the pre-Covid figures, but like everywherehe specifies, and we feel that the cinema is once again becoming the family outing par excellence“.
Same observation in the other Creuse theaters: in Aubusson, with 1,800 more entries last year compared to 2023, Colbert records an increase in attendance of almost 9%. At La Souterraine, Eden notes an increase of 3% with 12,305 tickets sold. The Claude Miller in Bourganeuf also saw more spectators in its room: there were 1,200 more than the previous year. And in Evaux-les-Bains, same trend, with 13,747 places sold. And in all these cinemas, it is “A little thing more” which tops the list of entries.
The directors of the Creuse theaters of course hope that 2025 will be as good a year as 2024. Guillaume Tixier is optimistic, “with the upcoming releases “Avatar 3”, “Zootopia 2” or even “Mission: Impossible” we should find this good attendance or even a little more“The Sénéchal is also banking on its arthouse events on Sundays at 6 p.m..”A meeting that is about to take place. It was very shy at the start of 2024 and here we arrive at sessions with 30 people” remarks the director of the Guéret cinema. And to attract even more spectators, the Sénéchal recently invested in laser projectors that make the image brighter. New this year, the chairs in certain rooms will be changed“with more spaces in certain rows”, promises Guillaume Tixier.
