Argentina shines once again on the international football scene. The men’s football team, already twice Copa América champions, was voted best team of the year 2024 by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS). This prestigious vote brought together the voices of 518 journalists from 111 different countries, highlighting the impact of Albiceleste in the field.
With 579 points, the Argentine team was ahead of Spain, champion of Euro 2024, which collected 552 points, and Real Madrid, with its numerous victories including the Champions League, which obtained 532. These Results are reported on the website of our colleagues at Sud Quotidien.
Beyond team sport, media facilities were also in the spotlight during this survey. The Paris 2024 Olympic Games took home the award for Best Press Facilities, accumulating an impressive total of 1,507 points. This success underlines the efforts of the organizers to provide an optimal working environment for journalists covering the event, returning to “normal” after the Tokyo 2020 Games, marked by restrictions linked to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The main press center, built on three levels at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, has been praised for its efficiency. Most of the 5,733 journalists present expressed their satisfaction with the services made available to them.
To better appreciate the impact of the vote, here is the ranking of the ten best teams according to the AIPS: Argentina at the top, followed by Spain, Real Madrid, the United States men’s basketball team and the Barcelona women’s football club. At the same time, the best press facilities were awarded to Paris 2024, then to UEFA Euro 2024 and Wimbledon.
This ranking highlights the importance of excellence both on the field and behind the scenes, where equipment and working conditions continue to play a vital role. More details on this elegant organization can be found in the full article on the Sud Quotidien website.
