Cyberpunk 2 will be a little more Americanized via the Boston studio | Xbox

After a disastrous launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has made a remarkable comeback and is now a much-loved game with players eagerly awaiting its sequel. Known as “Orion,” Cyberpunk 2 is set to be quite a different title, thanks in part to a significant shift in its development.

A suite developed in the USA to reinforce immersion

As we know, the next episode of the license is being developed in a brand new studio in Boston, with the aim of offering a more authentic experience close to American culture.

The studio actually explained in a recent podcast that several elements of Cyberpunk 2077 were not as successful because the game was not developed by an American studio, while it tried to depict a purely American city and society.

I think Cyberpunk is a uniquely American story. It has a lot of punk energy and was written by an American, so it seemed right to make it in America.

Dan Hernberg, Executive Producer of the studio, notably took as an example the manhole covers of the game which resembled those found in Europe, and not those generally seen in North America, a detail which, if it seems insignificant, is not for the teams of CD Projekt in search of authenticity:

Our sidewalks are different, our colors are different on all our signs. Everything is slightly different. It doesn’t break the immersion, but it’s just that little thing that makes you think, “Maybe this wasn’t made by people who live here or by people who fully understand the whole culture American”.

Let’s remember that developers from Hitman, Fable and Dishonored joined the ranks of CD Projekt Boston at the beginning of the year. We are obviously eager to learn more about this highly anticipated sequel which will therefore be developed mainly in the USA.
