The Russian Investigative Committee, a powerful investigative body, is requesting the provisional detention of Frenchman Laurent Vinatier, his lawyer told AFP on Friday. He had been arrested the day before in Moscow,
“The Investigative Committee is currently filing a request with the court registry to request the detention of Laurent Vinatier,” said the lawyer, whose client is being prosecuted for an infraction of the law on “foreign agents” , but also accused of collecting information on Russia’s military activities.
The Russian Investigative Committee broadcast the video of his arrest in a restaurant in the capital, explaining that he is suspected of having collected information in the field of military activities for several years.
