The Arc de Triomphe dressed in the colours of the Paralympic Games

The Olympics have their rings on the Eiffel Tower. For the Paralympic Games, it’s the Arc de Triomphe. This Friday morning, three asymmetrical “crescents” in red, blue, and green appeared on the emblematic monument of Paris.

If it must have raised eyebrows in #saccageparis, the structure measuring 12 meters wide and 9 meters high has nothing to do with Anne Hidalgo. Well almost since they are the symbols of the Paralympic Games which will begin on August 28 in Paris.

“It’s a unity between the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games”

Named the “Agitos” – “I move” in Latin – they are a reference to the motto of the Paralympic Games: “Spirit in motion.” » They were made by ArcelorMittal, like the torches and cauldrons of the flame and like the Olympic rings before them.

Present this Friday morning at the presentation of the “Agitos”, Tony Estanguet did not hide his satisfaction at seeing this project accomplished: “It was important for us to show that it is a unity between the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games.”

If the “Agitos” now adorn the Champs-Elysées, they are not the only Olympic symbols on the most beautiful avenue in the world since a “Salon” statue designed by the American artist Alison Saar was inaugurated at the start of the week in the Charles Aznavour garden.
