A gendarmerie vehicle was attacked this Saturday, October 12, during the unauthorized demonstration entitled “emergency braking against LGV du Sud-Ouest”, indicated the prefecture on its X account.
This Saturday, October 12, individuals, described as violent, participated in the unauthorized demonstration called “emergency braking against LGV du Sud-Ouest”. During this, a gendarmerie vehicle was damaged, indicated the prefect of New Aquitaine and Gironde on his X account.
“The soldiers were urgently evacuated by firefighters who came to free them, their vehicle was also attacked during the extraction,” added the authorities, noting that “no personnel were injured”.
“The prefect condemns this unacceptable behavior towards the security and emergency forces,” it was indicated.
Feared damage
In a press release published Thursday October 10, the prefect Etienne Guyot had banned the demonstration entitled “emergency braking against LGV du Sud-Ouest”, specifying that it “was not the subject of any prior declaration to the Prefecture then even as the association “Les Uprisings of the Earth” is known for its violent mode of action.
“The calls for mobilization emanating from this group were regularly followed by actions of damage and violent clashes with the police, notably in Sainte-Soline, on the Castres-Toulouse axis of the A69, on the ZAD de la Crem’arbe in Sïx or even in Puylaurens,” he explained.
