A. Mbaye, accused of having kidnapped and then killed her co-wife’s 14-month-old daughter, can count on the support of her husband. “She remains my wife. Certainly, she has had mental disorders in the past, postpartum depression which occurs after childbirth. But, she was treated and she recovered,” revealed Issa Dieng, interviewed by L’Observateur. Moreover, the newspaper’s interlocutor is convinced that the alleged murderer “was very lucid when she killed the little girl, who is her namesake”.

What about the couple’s future? “Despite what she has done, she remains my wife. I will give him the necessary support. Justice will be done all the same,” guarantees the newspaper’s interlocutor. He continues: “On Thursday, I went to see her at the Yeumbeul police station where I spoke to her. With her, I have two daughters who are currently with their maternal grandmother.”

Giving news of his second wife, the grieving mother, Issa Dieng fears for his mental health. “Sira Bobo Ba is very affected by this affair. Until then, she does not understand the motivations of her co-wife who killed her baby. The most surprising thing is that they never argued, he explains. She is certainly a believer, but I admit that this affair risks leaving traces. […]. I stay by his side, as do his sisters, his mother and his brothers, to talk to him and help him overcome this difficult ordeal. Only, when all these people return to their occupations, she will then be alone. […]. This is her first baby and [le] losing like this is not easy for any woman to bear.”

The husband therefore requests “from the State, the updating [leur] provision of a psychologist to anticipate a possible deterioration in the mental health of [sa] second wife”.
