Reissued in a beautiful box set, the works of the former Aurélie William Levaux and Moolinex are to be offered both to lovers and to those who no longer believe in them.

“Fuck was our wild friend, the foundation of our civilized dream” : this first sentence in the imperfect tense hits you in the face, painted in trembling capitals on an opening page which could hardly be more frontal: two paws and a male face are inscribed in a triangle around a buttocks spread in the middle from which gape, pink, offered – we don’t draw you a picture. It was eleven years ago. Moolinex, an essential figure in alternative drawing-comics-DIY, threw the world this Question in around twenty pages as brutally poetic as they are desperate. Snapshots of wild antics and moments of abandonment, of tenderness too, follow one another in the backdrop of this implacable but always trembling voiceover which tells the story of a breakup, or rather the astonishment of a breakup . The question in question, never stated (“How can it be that all this is no more?”, or simply “Why?”), oozes from each coitus to dissolve in the dull solitude of a navel.

Okay, so what about her? She, it turns out, is also an artist, author of comic books, and this is where things become more complex: a year later, the one whose naked body represented from all angles offered an erotic support (consented or not ?) to the torments of the other, speaks in turn.
