New development in the matter of the “conditions” demanded by Morocco in exchange for the opening of customs in Ceuta and Melilla. The group of deputies of the Spanish Popular Party requests the appearance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, during an extraordinary session of the plenary of the Lower House so that he provides clarification on the negotiations with Morocco relating to this subject, in particular the possible “conditions imposed” by Rabat, indicates an Iberian media.

It is clear that the PP does not want the executive, led by Pedro Sanchez, to benefit from Parliament’s vacation in January to save time and has therefore demanded an extraordinary session.

They also requested information on how the internationally recognized customs regime for travelers will be implemented in the two cities, adds the same source. “We want the government to explain in detail the measures that will be taken to guarantee the full functioning of customs and how this will affect trade and the citizens of Ceuta and Melilla,” demanded the PP in its request.

On condition of anonymity, government sources clarified on Friday January 3 that “negotiations on commercial customs are being conducted directly between the foreign ministries of the two kingdoms. These are high-level negotiations.”
