It’s now official! Kaamelott: Second Part will be released on our big screens on October 22, 2025, as Alexandre Astier recently announced on his social networks. But what do we know about this sequel? This is an opportunity for us to take stock.
#1 Kaamelott: Second Part will be divided into two films
We waited a long time for it, and it ended up being released in 2021. Kaamelott: First Part was a great success at the French box office, despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the introduction of the health pass. Whatever the case, its success made it possible to formalize the sequel so desired by Alexandre Astier and therefore laid the foundations for what was announced as a trilogy. However, this term “trilogy” must be taken with a little perspective, since Kaamelott: Second Part will be divided into two two-hour films released a few months apart, in the manner of Kill Bill vol.1 et Kill Bill vol. 2 by Quentin Tarantino or Matrix Reloaded et Matrix Revolutions des Wachowski. October 22, 2025 is therefore Kaamelott: Second Part (part 1) which will be released in cinemas. For the moment, we do not have a release date for the second part, but given the fact that the two films were filmed at the same time, we can probably expect it for 2026.
#2 Arthur will have to face the wrath of the Gods
Although he took back the fortress of Kaamelott from Lancelot du Lac, who reigned as a tyrant for ten years, and he is determined to find the Grail, Arthur Pendragon should face divine wrath in the next part of Kaamelott. As Alexandre Astier explained in an interview given during an FNAC event, the Breton sovereign disobeyed the Gods by refusing to kill Lancelot, even though they had designated him as the instrument of their vengeance. As during Book IV, the Celtic Gods will be furious with Arthur, and it is undoubtedly this situation which prevents the king of the Kingdom of Logres from sleeping on the first official image of the series. The post-credits scene of Kaamelott: First Part revealed the return of Méléagant, nicknamed The Answer, and who should play a major role in the sequel.
#3 A new Saxon leader will enter
The movie Kaamelott: First Part was marked by the entry of the Saxon leader Horsa into the world Kaamelott. Inspired by a historical character, he is played on screen by the English singer Sting, who shines with his impressive charisma. At the end of the film, Horsa is victorious on all counts since in addition to lending money to Kaamelott, he keeps the island of Thanet given to him by Lancelot and obtains a permanent place at King Arthur’s Round Table . However, Horsa will have to report to his superior on the progress he has made in Kaamelott: First Partas Alexandre Astier indicated in an interview with FNAC. He also announced that he was looking for an actor, possibly English, capable of giving substance to a character whose charisma could arouse fear as well as respect in Horsa. He indicated that the character could be a man or a woman. We can’t wait to find out!
#4 The new generation will gain importance
Kaamelott: First Part marked a new stage in the saga Kaamelott introducing many young characters who join the Round Table. This new generation distinguished itself during Arthur’s absence by joining the Resistance against the tyrannical power of Lancelot. Among these characters, several are played by the children of Alexandre Astier. In an interview published in the latest issue of Firstthe director announced that in Kaamelott: Second Part “the new kids are in the spotlight and must prove what they are worth“. There is no doubt that these scenes will bring their share of comedy, to the delight of fans.
#5 Some characters should be conspicuous by their absence
The release of Kaamelott: First Part was an opportunity for fans to meet the majority of the major characters from the series. However, some were conspicuous by their absence. We think in particular of Lady Ygerne of Tintagel, the mother of Arthur Pendragon, and Yvain the Knight of the Lion, his brother-in-law, played by Simon Astier. While Alexandre Astier is still very vague about the presence or absence of his half-brother in the casting of Kaamelott: Second Partwe learned that actor Jean-Robert Lombard – who plays Father Blaise in the series – was not invited to participate in Kaamelott: Second Part. We recall that Father Blaise joined Lancelot’s camp between the last episode of Book VI and Kaamelott: First Part and was banished by Arthur at the end of the feature film.
#6 The sequel will include new flashbacks to Arthur’s story
After recounting Arthur’s departure from Rome and his arrival on the island of Brittany in Book VI, Alexandre Astier went further back into the Breton sovereign’s past in Kaamelott: First Partrecounting the first love of Uther Pendragon’s son. A very important episode in his journey and which will determine his refusal to shed blood. During a meeting organized by FNAC, the creator of Kaamelott has confirmed that the rest of the saga will include other flashbacks recounting very important episodes from King Arthur’s youth.
#7 The second part will end badly
The series Kaamelott experienced major upheavals both in terms of its tone and its form, particularly from season 5 onwards. Not content with offering episodes lasting an hour instead, Books V and VI also opted for a more tragic tone , coming to pick us up between two scenes of pure comedy. Kaamelott: First Part was in the same vein, and the second part should also follow the same path. Alexandre Astier has already confided, during an interview given to the magazine First what Kaamelott: Second Part “ends smelling scorched“. The director also compared the second film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Backwhich proves that the next film should be decidedly darker than the first.
