Kinds of Kindness already marks the return of Yorgos Lanthimos to the cinema in a madness which risks being very divisive. Debate.
A few months later Poor creatures who conquered the cinema planet between Venice (Golden Lion), Hollywood (with four Oscars) and theaters with a nice success at the box office, Yorgos Lanthimos is already back with a new film: the provocative and cruel Kinds of KindnessPresented in competition at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and winning the Best Actor award for Jesse Plemons, the film has turned the Croisette upside down a bit.
The reason? A triple oddity, sometimes violent, cruel and provocative, sometimes hilarious, grotesque and unpredictable.. Always led by a golden cast (including Jesse Plemons and Lanthimos’ muse, Emma Stone), Kinds of Kindness is a great delirium on the human condition that should divide the spectators. The perfect opportunity for Antoine and Alexandre to discuss it in a debate.
The film arrived in our French theaters on June 26, 2024 and should therefore make quite a bit of noise in the weeks to come. Regarding the after Kinds of Kindness, Yorgos Lanthimos already has another project in mind. Titled Bugoniathis next feature film should contain elements of comedy and science fiction, and will be carried by those who now form the filmmaker’s emblematic duo: Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
