The outlines of the future series Harry Potter are taking shape. First announced on Max then picked up by HBO, this new adaptation of JK Rowling’s literary saga, scheduled for 2026, has a showrunner and a director.

As specified by the American media Varietyis the screenwriter and producer Francesca Gardiner – whose work on the series Succession or Killing Eve was awarded several Emmy Awards – who was chosen as showrunner of the project.

She will be accompanied in her task by producer Mark Mylod (Game of Thrones), responsible for directing and producing some of the episodes of the series.

Release planned for 2026

Scheduled for 2026, this new series Harry Potter aims to adapt JK Rowling’s original seven volumes at the rate of one season per novel. The casting and filming date are still unknown.

Published between 1997 and 2007, the seven volumes of the saga Harry Potter have sold 500 million copies worldwide, becoming the series of children’s novels best-selling in history.
