Back in Spain, after touring the world to serve the Gresini Racing team in MotoGP, Marc Marquez has attracted the attention of the local media with the new adventure he is preparing to take on with Ducati. After regaining his former level within one of the factory's satellite structures, notably securing his first three victories since the 2021 season, the multiple world champion will join Pecco Bagnaia in the official Borgo team Panigale.

If in this way he will have the best bike on the field, the Spaniard knows that his adaptation risks being complicated. Bagnaia has achieved many things with Ducati, and is currently the undisputed leader of the brand's factory team.

Guest in the podcast, 'El Cafelito', the Spaniard once again focused on this situation which he hopes to change as quickly as possible, in particular thanks to his results.

“At the moment there are drivers like Pecco Bagnaia, who is the reference, confide Marc Marquez in Josep Pedrerol's microphone. Last year, he won eleven races, he fought for the title until the last event, against Jorge Martin. And on top of that, he was a double world champion in this box. You must arrive with a realistic profile. You come to a team, with a guy who won two championships, and who fought for a third. »

Marquez ready to turn things around

To better understand his position, the speaker offered a comparison with a popular transfer in the world of football. He then asked Marc Marquez if he was somehow the Kylian Mbappe of Ducati. A star player who arrives in a new team, in which the club's child has already won everything. A second role which connects Bagnaia's situation at Ducati with that of Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid.

A little surprised, Marc Marquez thought for a few moments before approving. ” It's clear. It's a bit like that. Vinicius is the one who is in place, he is the reference. Mbappé therefore needs time to adapt. In a year maybe that will change. Next winter, we will talk about Mbappe and Vinicius, and where they are. »

Marquez was then asked if Mbappe was better than his opponent. A question obviously linked to the previous comparison.

“For the moment no. But we'll see in a year, we have to live in the present. Bagnaia is Vinicius, I am Mbappé, but everything can change »concludes Marc Marquez.
