A man in his late twenties was the victim of an attempted murder Tuesday evening in Trois-Rivières, in Mauricie.
The Trois-Rivières Police Department was alerted shortly after 7 p.m. for a man injured by gunfire at the back of an apartment block on rue Audet, near Côte Richelieu.
According to our information, it is Jay Lafond who has several criminal records, including drug trafficking, robbery and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Moreover, the address listed in his court file corresponds exactly to the place where the attack took place.

Police officers dispatched to the scene found the victim in a home who was transported to hospital to treat injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

No one else was injured and no suspects have been arrested in the case at this time, said a spokesperson for the Trois-Rivières Police Department.

On the other hand, the police have not specified whether this attempted murder is linked to organized crime and the shooting events which have shaken Trois-Rivières in recent weeks.

The scene was protected for investigators who should travel during the morning to try to shed light on the circumstances of this shooting, it was added.
A burned vehicle was also found Tuesday on Industrielle Boulevard in Trois-Rivières. According to the police’s initial observations, this fire would be linked to the event on rue Audet.
