Lando Norris wants to finish the season in style after 23 races which took him to the status of title candidate. The McLaren F1 driver wants to succeed in defending the constructors' title until the end.
“Next up is the finale, in Abu Dhabi. We had a fast car in Qatar, so I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do this weekend. I'm focused and ready to give it my all one last time this season and to win the constructors' championship” Norris said.
“It's a season I'll never forget, from my first win at Miami to the drivers' championship. The whole team has done an incredible job giving us a really fun car to drive this season, and I want to thank everyone for that. Abu Dhabi is always a great place to finish the season.
Oscar Piastri is happy to have returned to the podium in Qatar, and he wants to focus on the constructors' title for his team: “It’s good to approach the last race of the season with the momentum of a new podium.”
“Now we have to focus on Abu Dhabi and the constructors' championship. We are in the driver's seat, but everything can change in an instant. So we have to be at our best and ready to face this challenge.”
Ryo Hirakawa will make his Grand Prix debut this weekend with FP1 in a McLaren MCL38, and the Japanese welcomes the opportunity: “I can’t wait to hit the track in Abu Dhabi and I want to thank the team for giving me this opportunity.”
“We've done a few TPC tests this year and attended a few races as a reserve driver, so it's great to take the next step and be able to help Lando, Oscar and the whole team prepare the car for the final round of the championship I'm very excited to drive an F1 car again.”
Team principal Andrea Stella looks back to the final race and hopes McLaren can win the title: “After a long but satisfying season, we now head to Abu Dhabi for the final race of 2024.”
