Accused of assault and sexual harassment, Insoumise (FI) MP Hugo Prevost was excluded from the group in the National Assembly on Tuesday October 8. The Insoumis group explained that it had been informed of the facts at the end of September by the Internal Vigilance Committee against Sexual Violence, reports BFMTV.

France Insoumise delivered its verdict this Tuesday, October 8. Informed by the Vigilance Committee against sexist and sexual violence (CVSS), the FI parliamentary group decided to exclude the deputy for Isère Hugo Prevost from the National Assembly for “serious acts of a sexual nature which may constitute criminal offences”. In a press release published on X in the evening, Hugo Prevost announced his resignation. “I appreciate the seriousness of the accusations made to me. I have defended myself from them. I will not respond to them publicly (…) Taking note of the decision of the La France insoumise – New Front Populaire Group, I am announcing as soon as today the resignation of my mandate”he wrote.

“All my support to the victims”

The public prosecutor’s office indicated on Wednesday October 9 that it had not received a complaint against him. Aged 25, the parliamentarian was called to resign by environmentalists as well as by his deputy, Salomé Robin. The latter said “appalled and disgusted by these revelations” and brings all the sound “victim support”she testifies in a press release. “The behavior that Hugo Prevost is accused of is the opposite of the program that I defend”she writes.

Opponent of former minister Olivier Véran during the early legislative elections, Hugo Prevost was accused of sexist and sexual violence including touching and non-consensual sex with a woman, reports Mediapart. The MP was also accused by three other women of “constant pressure” et “moral and sexual harassment” in addition to sexist remarks from 2020 to 2024 in the workplace.
