Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy and Grammy Award winner, recently had his colleague Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, arrested for defamatory comments.
The arrest was confirmed by Deji Adeyanju, a lawyer and activist, who revealed that Speed Darlington was in police custody in Abuja. According to him, the artist was first apprehended in Lagos the previous Friday before being transferred to Abuja, where he remained in detention. This arrest is believed to be linked to a complaint filed by Burna Boy, although the exact details of this complaint have not yet been released.

“We spent the last 30 minutes with Speed Darlington, who told us about his arrest in Lagos, his transfer to Abuja, as well as his prolonged detention. The complaint against him was filed by Burna Boy,” Adeyanju said.
Before the information was made public, social networks had already reacted to the unexplained disappearance of Speed Darlington for three days, causing concern among his fans. His mother spoke out on social media, accusing Burna Boy of being responsible for her son’s arrest, which she perceives as revenge following the comments made by Speed Darlington against him.

The conflict appears to have erupted after Speed Darlington shared a video in which he questioned the legitimacy of Burna Boy’s Grammy win. He also insinuated that the latter would have links with the American rapper Sean Combs, alias Diddy, who is currently going through a difficult period. These statements allegedly motivated Burna Boy’s complaint.
On Tuesday, Burna Boy reacted on X (formerly Twitter) with a cryptic message: “Who is missing? ”, without specifying whether he was referring to Speed Darlington.
