Laïnny Lequesne embodies l’engagement and the kindness. For a month, this 19-year-old has been carrying out her civic service at the Saint-Jacques-Saint-Christophe nursing home in Cesny-les-Sources ().

An experience that she lives to the fullest, while pursuing her dream of working in the medical field, and more particularly with children suffering from cancer.

Passion for care

Originally from the region, Laïnny obtained a professional baccalaureate in personal support in Falaise. During her training, she completed four internships in nursing homes, an enriching experience which strengthened her desire to work with vulnerable people.

Despite her efforts to join a childcare assistant school at the start of the 2024 school year, she was not accepted. Rather than giving up, Laïnny decided to engage in civic service.

I always wanted to work in healthcare. I had contact with the medical field at a very young age, and my grandmother was a caregiver. It made me want to follow this route.

Breaking the isolation

At the nursing home, Laïnny is involved in activities for residents. Whether it is organizing group activities or spending individual time with everyone, its objective is to break the isolation of elderly people. “Listening to them, interacting with them… that’s close to my heart. I really like what I do here, the residents are very nice,” she explains with a smile.

A future focused on pediatrics

Despite her attachment to her current role, Laïnny keeps her goal in mind: working with children in a hospital environment.

I would particularly like to take care of children with cancer. It’s a project that motivates me enormously.

Laïnny will continue her civic service until June 2025, a step which will allow her to gain even more experience and get closer to her dream.

His commitment to the nursing home does not go unnoticed, both by residents and the team. “Laïnny is a young woman full of energy and attention, she makes a real difference in our daily lives,” says a facilitator from the establishment.

With her enthusiasm and determination, Laïnny is a true source of inspiration for those around her.
