The fourth edition of the “A Job Please” forum was held last Wednesday at the Maison pour tous de la Madeleine. An event organized by the local mission of the Chartres district, with France Travail, and which aims to promote the professional integration of young people, many of whom come from priority areas of the city.
Nearly 400 young people, aged 16 to 25, were registered to participate in this forum. 162 came: 77 invited by the local mission and 85 by France Travail.
“Varied contracts”
Eighteen companies or local administrations were present to meet them. Among them, personal service, catering and even industrial structures. Others offered positions in the transport, agriculture, security or administration sectors such as the CPAM (Primary Health Insurance Fund).
Julie Barbot-Ghaddab, director of the local mission, explains: “We registered 210 young people followed by our advisors for this forum. France Travail had registered almost as many. It is true that some do not come, but there will be work done afterwards to understand the motivation of each person. It is difficult to take stock of the number of contracts signed because, often, these are the first contacts between young people and businesses that are made here.” Julie Barbot-Ghaddab specifies that 2,200 young people, from 150 Eurelian municipalities, are monitored each year.
Lauréna Ronce, partnership manager within the local business mission, adds: “Today, the partners present offer various contracts, training, internships and even work-study programs.”
Céline Lollivier, delegate of the prefect of Eure-et-Loir for priority districts, discusses the purpose of the forum: “It is organized in the Madeleine district, in Chartres, because this sector has joined the network of priority districts since January 2024 and he has the support of the prefecture.”
Among the participants in the forum, Camille Langevin, agency manager at Maison et Services, based in Lèves, with her moderator, Oriane Launay. They detailed the agency's offer in terms of housekeeping and cleaning to two visitors, Camille Pescheur and Cécilia Grenouillet: “These are contracts with a maximum of 30 hours per week. You must have a vehicle to travel within a 15 km radius around Chartres.”
Further, for Andrew Siong and Mattéo Jaulneau, the meeting did not produce any results. “It’s true that I’m looking in the banking sector and, here, there are no banks present,” notes Andrew. His fellow student (BTS operational commercial management at the Silvia-Monfort high school in Luisant), was looking for work for a maximum of seven months. Mattéo specifies: “It’s a contract of a few months that I need before following other studies at the start of the next school year.”
