Unpaid bills, layoffs, criminal complaints, nothing is going well at SOS Médecins according to RTS and the Tribune de Genève. Their investigations reveal a bled dry service, a lack of staff, and a debt of nearly 2.5 million francs.

An institution in difficulty for about ten years, with the number of emergency doctors halved in six years. Difficulties that have been amplified by the need clause and doctors who had to be trained in Switzerland for three years in order to be able to bill their fees to insurance companies. A major problem for an emergency service that often calls on foreign doctors, due to a lack of volunteers.

The insurers then demanded millions of francs in unpaid bills, plunging SOS Médecins into the abyss. The company, in debt, was sold at the beginning of the year to a businessman. Since then, several layoffs of doctors and administrative staff have been announced, according to RTS and the Tribune de Genève.

Unpaid wages, unpaid social security contributions, and an abysmal debt. It is estimated to reach nearly 2.5 million francs according to French-speaking television.

Worse still for patients, SOS Médecins is no longer able to carry out its missions 24 hours a day.
