UA man in his sixties was shot dead early Thursday morning during a burglary at a residence on Rue Gachard in Ixelles, the Brussels prosecutor’s office said on Thursday, confirming information revealed by several media outlets. Two other people – a woman and a young man – were also injured in the incident, but “their lives are no longer considered to be in danger.”

One or more armed suspects reportedly entered the residence. “Shots were fired from inside the home,” the prosecutor’s office said.

“The perpetrator(s) are currently being actively sought,” he added. The latter put the case under investigation before going down to the scene with the investigating judge.

The Federal Judicial Police laboratory was also requisitioned, and a forensic doctor was requested. The investigation was entrusted to the Federal Judicial Police.

“At this stage, the motive of the perpetrator(s) remains unknown. The investigation is continuing and in the interest of the investigation, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office will not make any further comments,” the prosecution concluded.
